I began my career photographing travel assignments for Travel + Leisure, The New York Times and Gourmet. It was fantastic! Besides the usual, yet wonderful suspects like London, San Francisco, Hawaii and Florence, I was also sent to India and Pakistan where I mastered shooting in a yellow shalwar kameez while looking like a banana.
I grew up in Kansas and, as a kid, I always wanted to be a flight attendant. I guess I knew early that I wanted to travel. I am deeply fascinated with culture and people. The best part of my job is the people I've met along the way.
My travel jobs lead me deeper into other genres of photography- food, portraiture, lifestyle and social advocacy. I really enjoy photographing food and the perks that come with that- hanging out with chefs and foodies and learning a few tricks to deploy in my own kitchen. And, my social advocacy projects remind me what's most important in life. I've been lucky enough to travel to Zambia to discover how the power of bicycles is transforming lives one student and one entrepreneur at a time.
Photography has been my passport to life- not only abroad, but also in my hometown, New York City. No matter what or where I'm shooting, I love making beautiful images that hopefully inspire others to travel, cook, give back and live life!
